At the 5 week mark, mamas to be often recognize fatigue as one of the main symptoms of pregnancy. While your body is busy building your bundle of joy it is also building the umbilical cord and placenta. Hang on mama! Once these are finished, you’ll get a major energy boost.

Folate (which turns into folic acid) is essential at this stage. Your baby’s neural tube, which is the foundation of its spinal cord and brain need folate for proper construction. Taking a prenatal with folate is essential. Also eating food with naturally occurring folate like leafy greens, broccoli or avocado will help.

Baby is small but mighty - now between 0.05 and 0.10in.

At this point some mamas don’t notice any changes yet while others begin to experience some of the funky early pregnancy symptoms - morning sickness, tender breasts, bloating, frequent urination. Hang on tight mama - most of these symptoms only hang on for the first trimester.

“To be pregnant is to be vitally alive, thoroughly woman, and distressingly inhabited. Soul and spirit are stretched – along with body – making pregnancy a time of transition, growth, and profound beginnings.”
