Baby’s growth begins to slow this week to allow baby to navigate the birth canal and to save up energy for the big event. Mama will have a lot to do to get baby out, but baby is also working to escape. Some mamas find it helpful to imagine their baby as their true birth partner both doing their parts to deliver baby into the world.

While most of baby’s development is complete, baby’s digestive system still has a lot of maturing to do. Baby has been busy swallowing amniotic fluid and won’t need to test it’s strength until outside the womb. It won’t be fully functional until a year or two after birth.
